Pawnee Buttes Canyon By Moonlight |

Ever since viewing an exhibition of Frederick Remington's Night Paintings, I have been fascinated by how artists have interpreted night scenes. In this painting, my inspiration was seeing the Pawnee Buttes and the arroyos on a moon lit night. Since colors are not perceived well at night I followed the examples of Remington and others by casting the scene in hues of deep green, violet and deep blues with only hints of the pale moonlight reflecting off the rocks. |
