| Frequently Asked Questions about this tutorial |
Wherever I display my work, people are astounded to discover that my artwork was created digitally. The first question they ask is "how did you do that", and the second question is "do you give classes?" Until now the answer to that question was "no", but now I am able to offer a course to you on CD. This is a complete course covering all aspects of how I create my artwork from start to finished presentation. The entire 3 Disk set of tutorials requires only your own browser and Media player to deliver narrated movies showing detailed how-to demonstrations.
On Disk 1 you'll be introduced to the concept of Digital Natural Media. I'll dispel some of the myths about what Digital Imagery is, and what it is not. I'll tell you what you'll need to get started in the way of software, hardware, and peripherals. I'll also discuss a few very basic technical details you'll need to know, without getting into propeller-head stuff. I'll take you step-by-step how I take a photograph and remove unwanted details, and then replace the entire background. Then I'll show you how to apply and customize artistic effects using Microsoft Digital Image Pro in a way that makes the artwork look like real natural mediums. I'll also show you some undocumented features of controlling the way the effects are applied and how to create your own unique brush templates. I explain each feature of the programs I use in easy to understand terms with video demos that will get you up and running in no time flat.
On Disk 2 I'll take you into some advanced techniques using Corel® Painter. You'll learn quickly how and when and how to use some of the artistic brushes, and use masking and layering. To top it all off, I'll show you how to apply texture to your art work that will make it look like a true oil painting. Each of the demos provides just enough info without going over your head or leaving you with the feeling "I could never do that".
On Disk 3 I'll take you through the
whole process of finishing the sample piece started in Disk 1 and show you not
only how I do things, but explain my thinking as well.
Finally I'll talk about aspects of printing your images and what types of substrates
can make your finished prints look the best. I'll also talk about Giclee prints
and what you need to know in order to work with service bureaus. I'll then show
you step-by-step a unique way of presenting your finished art as a digital
portfolio.
You can also now obtain all three Disks on one DVD.
This complete tutorial is the culmination of 5 years of learning and discovery. You'll learn techniques that cannot be learned anywhere else! For me to offer this course as a hands-on course would be prohibitively expensive not to mention the considerable investment in time and materials on your part. Also, how many times have you returned from a day long course only to find that you can't remember exactly how things were done, and wished you could go back and see it again. By providing this course on CD, you have the advantage of taking it at your leisure and reviewing it as often as you like.
